Synopsis: George Benson was born on March 22, 1943 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. The guitarist/singer has prolifically lodged his feet in the music industry cement in both modern jazz and pop. George Benson is a superior guitar player and a remarkably versatile musician who uses skillfully smoothed lush vocal harmonies, lightning speed, and a breezy sense of melodic groundwork in creating imaginative solos and captivating rhythms. He is a ruthless swinger. His characteristic trademark is his performance of picking elaborate guitar harmonies while scatting matching harmonies.

"When people see what you can do with an instrument, it really sticks out," Benson says. "A guitar forces you to delve into all of your knowledge and bring it out."

Throughout, there are plenty of examples that explain why Benson is so esteemed as a jazz guitarist - the unerring selection of notes, the churning rhythms, melting lyricism and sheer ability to swing.

This is a magnificent Benson album but be forewarned, there is only one vocal track (All of me). You can expect some exceptional jazz pieces containing some phenomenal guitar work in the classic Benson fashion. I highly recommend it to guitar players especially the song "The cooker" ...

George Benson released this album only a few weeks after the original Beatles Abbey Road album ... so although I despise those kind of marketing ploys, I have to admit that I was gently swayed by the Benson groove. The album is poetic and contains attractive Beatlesque overtones. The guitar work is varied and impressive, as usual, and sometimes produces an interesting eclectic musical concoction.

I was unexpectedly amazed at how well he fared in the environment, especially, entangled in the feverish and chaotic beats of the incredible rhythm section. I highly recommend this album to any Benson enthusiast, it's fantastic.

The tracks are solid and the groove is ever present, although not embracing of innovation, Benson R&B fans will be delighted and the album will stand to reconfirm Benson's skill as blues player.

Surprisingly, the album is fairly reminiscent of early Benson but contains his cover of Leon Russell's "This Masquerade" where his, now trademarked, scat and play lead guitar modus operandi gained immense recognition. Benson's guitar gracefully exudes elegance

This NEVER gets old! ... I could hear these songs over and over again, and they'd still be as fresh and clean as the first time I heard them!

... This album truly captures the spirit of what George Benson's gift was always about....pure heart and SOUL delivered with technical finesse. Benson's rhythm section churns and cooks like a pot of grandma's gumbo ... Experience a master ... experience George Benson!

Benson takes the path of least resistance in his apparent drive towards mass appeal, and although, the album is very well crafted and of superior quality, I fear the impression on Benson aficionados, will be one of abandonment as Benson's guitar chops are gradually replaced by a bastardization of contemporary pop. There are only two instrumental cuts but admittedly, they are phenomenal ...
