2008 has mainly been spent writing and rehearsing the new material for the
upcoming 7th Theatre of
Tragedy album. So far 12 songs are done and 10 of those will make it to the
album. The drums have been recorded with Alexander Nyhus. Recordings are
planned for February and March 2009 so a release date should be in either June
or August depending on AFM Records. Erik Ljunggren will be handling the
production side of things. He knows the band very well and is a wizard when it
comes to sound. He has turned the knobs for The Kovenant,
A-Ha, Seigmen,
Zeromancer, and Satyricon. and was the mastermind of the legendary industrial
metal band Vampire State Building.

shoulder-length pageboy hairdo and kitschy bangs whose saucy 1950's photos
helped usher in the sexual revolution of the 1960s, has died Thursday night at
Kindred Hospital in Los Angeles, where she had been on life support since
suffering a heart attack Dec 2. She was 85. "Bettie Page was one of
Playboy magazine's early Playmates, and she became an iconic figure,
influencing notions of beauty and fashion" said Playboy magazine founder
Hugh Hefner. Some pictures of her showing bondage and spanking generated
controversy and attracted a congressional subpoena. She became the subject of
songs, biographies, Web sites, comic books, movies and documentaries. A new
generation of fans bought thousands of copies of her photos, and some feminists
hailed her as a pioneer of women's liberation.Link: bettiepage.com Dec 12, 2008 DEPECHE MODE:
"Weve completed the record,"
Depeche
Modes frontman,
Dave Gahan,
told Pop & Hiss on Thursday via phone from New York. "There might be a
couple of bits and pieces weve got to clean up, but I feel really good
about the fact that were finished," he continued. "I think
weve made a great record." Gahan said the as-yet-untitled album,
slated for release this coming spring, will have about 12 tracks.
"Weve been spoiled for choice with this one because we recorded more
songs for this record than we ever had for any [other] record," he said.
"Maybe Im old school or whatever but once you start going over 12
songs, I think it becomes a little weird."
Gahan
confirmed the 2009 disc, will contain the tracks Wrong and Peace,
snippets of which have been circulating the Web. Gahan, however, clarified that
the actual title of Peace is Peace Will Come to Me. Additionally,
he unveiled the titles of three more new tracks -- Hole to Feed,
Comebackand In Chains, all co-written by Gahan -- that are likely
set for inclusion on the album.
Gahan added
that the recording sessions, which took place over the last several months in
New York and Santa Barbara, were productive and that he and the act's principal
songwriter, Martin Gore,
are working well together. "We have about 18 songs," he said, even
hinting that the band will release a special EP or online-only add-on with the
extra material next year. But
Gahan
stressed that the EMI release will be just that a proper record that
doesnt run too long. And though the band is increasingly fond of using
guitars, the new disc may see a return to the
Depeche Mode's
original analog synth roots -- at least on a few tracks. "Martins
got this new fetish which is basically buying gear on EBay," Gahan said.
"He must have bought up half of the analog equipment around the world.
Weve got all these old drum machines from the 1970s, and even some of the
stuff that we used in the '80s as well, like old Moogs and Arps." As an
example, Gahan noted that
one of the new album's stars is a piece of gear dubbed "The Colonel"
- a vintage 1970s-era Steiner Parker synthesizer. It's an instrument, said
Gahan, "that makes crazy noises. We found it really inspiring and used it
in a lot of things [on the new record]."Link: Pop & Hiss, The L.A Times music blog ZEROMANCER:

February 3, 2009 Metropolis Records will release a compilation of
Seabound
rareties: 'When Black Beats Blue', limited to 2500 copies. When Black Beats
Blue is a line from the Seabound song Breathe off of the album
'Double-Crosser'. Seabound chose it
as the album title because the idea of compiling an album of rare and
unreleased tracks was in part sparked by two amazing but yet unreleased
Breathe remixes. Metaphorically, "When Black Beats Blue"
refers to the single moment when a drowning person can still be saved. With
rare material from 2001 to 2008 and top notch remixers from the electronic
genre, this release contains collaborations with HECQ, Forma Tadre, Haujobb,
Mindless Faith, and more. The Domination remix by Die Form is
particularly worth mentioning because
Seabound are
the only band Die Form has ever remixed throughout its musical career.

9th will see the release of 'April Rain', the eagerly awaited new album from
Dutch gothic metal band
Delain. 'April
Rain' follows the successful 2006 debut 'Lucidity', which sky-rocketed the
career of the band in their home country of The Netherlands. Delain has been
Martijn Westerholts project from the start and the debut Lucidity was
recorded with a star studded cast of musical friends. Westerholt: The
album was never meant to be played live, but the demand was strong, so we
eventually got a live band together. Thats the band weve recorded
'April Rain' with. Compared to Lucidity, Id say that this album musically
is more coherent and consistent because of the fact that it was recorded all
the way through by the same musicians. Production wise this album has more of a
metal feel to it, as opposed to the more poppy production of
Lucidity....Another difference is that there are almost no guest appearances on
this album. Theres only
Nightwish
vocalist Marco Hietala, whom we also worked with on 'Lucidity', providing guest
vocals on the song Control The Storm.Link: delain.nl THE CURE: On

of rage". Due to Sarah Stanton's pregnancy she has been replaced on

Turn or The Perfect Key, which stylishly complement the overall
picture and impressively document that
Camouflage
dont just tell their story but continue to live intensely. The second DVD
contains not only all the bands video clips in chronological order, but
also rare unplugged clips and a number of TV appearances which show quite
plainly the changes the band has gone through during the past two decades. A

After spending much of the past two years touring the world,
Combichrist
unleashes his new album 'Today We Are All Demons' upon its eager fans.
Combichrist mastermind Andy LaPlegua has once again expanded on the beat
driven, hook-laden evil electro found on 'What The Fuck Is Wrong With You
People?'. In the summer of 2008
Combichrist
gave us a taste of what was to come with 'The Frost EP: Sent To Destroy',
instantly dominating dance floors. That was only a warning shot
with
'Today We Are All Demons', Combichrist aims right for the f**king head. From
the opening notes of the driving All Pain is Gone and the sleazy, punk
grooves of Kickstart The Fight (featuring Gen from The Genetorturers) to
the Techno Body Music tinged beats of Get Out Of My Head and the darkly
introspective title track, 'Today We Are All Demons' proves that
Combichrist
is a force to be reckoned with. Release date: Jan 20, 2009.Tracklisting: 01. No Afterparty 02. All Pain is Gone 03. Kickstart The Fight 04. I Want Your Blood 05. Can't Change The Beat 06. Synthpop act Client announce

in a tiny studio off the Golbourne road in London producing 5 tracks. Youth was
on top form as he came straight off his sell-out
Killing
Joke tour to play amazing bass lines fresh from his shows. His 5 tracks are

Berlin alley! The other 5 or 6 tracks were produced by Client and Joe Wilson of
Sneaker Pimps and were mixed by Alan Mcgee and Tipler in Bermondsy in 2 days!
They have a dirty, current, fresh electro feel about them and such titles are
Son of A Gun and Satisfaction. Tasters wil be uploaded on
