Portishead have released a brand new track - 'Chase the Tear' for Amnesty
International. It's now available as an exclusive download single from 7
digital with all earnings going towards Amnesty's human rights work. First
aired on Zane Lowe's BBC Radio 1 show on December 9, the track is out just in
time for international human rights day on December 10, marking the 51st
anniversary of the United Nation’s historic ”Universal Declaration Of
Human Rights” set on December 10th, 1948. 'Chase the Tear' is a reference
to a paper tear-style 'tear'. With a driving bass line and sparse drumbeats,
Beth Gibbons' vocals cut like a knife through the eastern-world extravagance

LISA GERRARD:
Lisa Gerrard's new album 'The Black Opal' is out on Gerrard Records and can be

CREMATORY: German
gothic-metal outfit Crematory are at this time in the studio recording their
new full-length album titled 'Infinity' to be released in February 2010.
Besides new Gothic Metal Hits with english lyrics, the album will also include
one or two songs with german lyrics again and a special Cover version of
Depeche Mode's
1986 Black Celebrationtrack. Also, and to celebrate CREMATORY's 20 years
anniversary in February 2011, the band is planning to release a 'Greatest Hits'

FRASER: For 18 years, she was the 'voice of God' in the
Cocteau Twins.
Now Elizabeth Fraser finds it too difficult even to think about her old
bandmates. When the announcement came that they were to reform, the world was
told they would be headlining the 2005 Coachella festival in California, and
would follow that with a major tour. According to bassist Simon Raymonde, the
band stood to benefit to the tune of £1.5m each for getting back
together... Within weeks of the announcement, the group's singer, Elizabeth
Fraser, announced she wouldn't take part. Fraser's decision to pull out of the
reformation was made for the same reasons that contribute to the band's split
in the first place: she could no longer face working with the group's
guitarist, Robin Guthrie – her lover until 1993, and the father of her
first child. For the last 12 years, Elizabeth has barely engaged with music.
She sang on Massive Attack's 1998 album 'Mezzanine' and exquisite hit
Teardrop, but that's it. She's been offered sums "beyond your
wildest dreams" to collaborate with other artists, says Frazer, in an
interview with The Guardian UK – "the weirdest one was Linkin
Park" – but all have been turned down. Her new single 'Moses',
released on Nov 30 on Rough Trade Records, was recorded some time ago with
Damon Reece – Massive Attack's drummer, and her partner of more than a
decade – and a close friend, Jake Drake-Brockman (keyboardist of
Echo and
The Bunnymen). It wouldn't be coming out at all were it not for a tragedy:
Drake-Brockman died in September, and Moses is being released as a
tribute. Fraser's closeness to Reece has produced her first new music for more
than a decade. The couple have even made "what might become an
album", music that – untypically – she says she is very proud
of. But she insists that the music isn't finished, and isn't ready for public

York, ex-member of the Goth Rock Legend
Garden of
Delight since 1999, starts his individual path with KALT. On his debut
album 'Dein Gott' released in Nov 2009, Mike York sings about life and release,
love and distress, memories and experiences. He modulates his seven intensive
stories with german and english language. At the end of the album he leaves the
stage for two instrumentals. The resonant production consists of earthy sounds
mixed with powerful but melodic rocking guitars. The spectrum of this mid tempo

PETER MURPHY:
Peter Murphy makes a cameo appearance on the third installement of the Twilight
saga movie "Eclipse". The Godfather of Goth, who used to rise from
coffins onstage and drive a hearse, is appropriately enough portraying a
vampire. "He plays a vampire in a flashback sequence," explained
actor Billy Burke. "I didn't get to see any of it, but all reports from
the director David Slade, and everyone around say he just kicked ass. Rather
than a Volturi or a Cullen, however, he's playing a predecessor of the warring
vampire factions. "[His role] started out as an old Spanish, sort of
unrelated vampire, in a flashback sequence," he explained, saying the
flashback involves Gil Birmingham's wheelchair-bound Quileute elder.
"Billy Black's talking and telling the story of the werewolves, how they
evolved, and how they met the vampires and stuff. [Murphy's cameo
is] in a sequence that involves that." Although odds are that most
"Twilight" fans aren't rocking out to
Bauhaus on a
regular basis, the cameo is important because it seems to shed a bit of light
on filmmaker David Slade's vision for the third "Twilight" film.
Hiring a goth pioneer from the '80s could indicate his eagerness to embrace an
older audience and a darker, more violent, possibly more male-friendly

Ceremonies concerts is in it's final stages of production. The new
Fields of the
Nephilim DVD 'Ceremonies: Ad Mortem and Ad Vitam' will be released in the
first quarter of 2010. Under the banner of Sheer Faith, Carl has worked to
produce an honest portrayal of these magical live moments. Though much footage
and recordings were captured during the 2008 events the final products are
mainly focused on the London Shepherds’s Bush two-night events ‘Ad
Mortem and Ad Vitam’ on July 12th & 13th respectively. Beyond this,
the Nephilim have been busy writing and recording new material and are planning

time for the new Nitzer Ebb album. 'Industrial Complex' has just been scheduled
for a January 22 release. Hayo Lewerentz from Major Records tells Release
Magazine that they have a deal for Germany/Austria/Switzerland, Scandinavia and
Eastern Europe. Lewerentz has a past as a musician and producer in, for
instance, U96 and Boytronic. His indie Major label is working with

The Dreamside
will release their new album, 'Lunar Nature', through Lion Music on December 4,
2009. The music of 'Lunar Nature' can be described as atmospherical gothic rock
with a good mixture of heavy guitars, electronical elements and a proper shot
of alternative rock. All this interwoven with the remarkably voice of Kemi Vita
(Satyrian). The album was recorded at the Excess studios in Rotterdam (After

titled "L'Assassin" will be released on Jan 29, 2010. ROME’s new
Chanson Noir is speaking of man’s enslavement in a world of constant
transformation. The traditions of (french) Chanson and (american) Folk are
becoming more and more influential in their current work. Chansonniers like
Léo Ferré, Jacques Brel and singer/songwriter heroes like
Cave, Cash and
Cohen are obvious influences. The previous album “Flowers From Exile”
already gave a first impression of what they themselves call Chanson Noir
– the darker side of singer/songwriter tradition: post-industrial-folk

Brendan
Perry, has completed and mastered his new album ‘Ark’. The album
is more reminiscent of the music Brendan has written for
Dead Can Dancethan
his previous solo work, 'Eye Of The Hunter', and contains two tracks,
Babylon and Crescent, that were originally composed for the
Dead Can Dance
reunion tour of 2005. 'Ark' comprises eight original compositions in total that
explore the recurring themes of identity, alienation, war, political corruption
and the threat that we as a species now pose to our environment. Unlike his
previous album 'Eye of the Hunter', which makes extensive use of live guitars,
bass and drums, practically all the instrumentation on 'Ark' is derived from
sample libraries and synthesizers. The release and tour dates have had to be
put back until early 2010. He is now managed by Colin Wallace who also manages
Elizabeth Fraser from the
Cocteau Twins.
In the pipeline is a 100 date double headline world tour with
Peter
Murphyof Bauhauswhich
is planned to begin next March to coincide with the album release. The tour
will commence in South America via Mexico to North America and then on to

MORRISSEY:
Former The
Smiths frontman
Morrissey was
released Sunday from a hospital where he was held overnight after collapsing on
stage during a concert on Saturday October 24. A spokeswoman for the Great
Western Hospital in the English city of Swindon said the singer was much
improved. "Morrissey became
unwell, and he was admitted overnight as a precautionary measure," she
said on condition of anonymity, in line with hospital policy. "He's been
seen by the medical team, much improved and now discharged home."
Morrissey was performing at the Oasis Leisure Centre in Swindon, about 100
miles (160 kilometers) west of London, on Saturday night as part of his
'Swords' tour when he was stricken. Two band members rushed to his side and
dragged him offstage.
Morrissey had
already rescheduled several shows earlier this year due to illness, and is due
to play a string of European dates through the rest of October and
