'Synthesis' will be combining hand selected tracks from their out of print debut with brand new ones to bring you 13 retro electro songs with grit and attitude. Awakened by the pulsing currents of electro ghosts of the 80s, The Break Ups sound can be found in addictive synths, beats and melodies; songs about inevitable break ups, regrets, dreams, floating ropewalks and machines. Shane Allen Hall conceived the hard beats and captivating melodies of The Break Up. Blending spirit and voice to song, Severina Sol completed the duo. Later they would add on Sarah Stewart on keyboards and Rey Guajardo on drums, and like the birth of stars in the night sky, coming together by their own talents and gravitational attraction; The Break Up would create a great disturbance of movement and sound, color and depth. Steven R Gilmore created the artwork for the album once again. Still centered around Nivek Ogre and cEvin Key, Skinny Puppy had planned to release the album around its extensive fall 2009 tour of North America, but solvency issues with the bands label, SPV, prevented that. Samples of all 11 tracks can be streamed at the SPV link below. This is what mastermind Ronan Harris had to say about it: "The net result of the stress and frustration and bashing heads against walls, is that Automatic is something else. Of the journalists who heard it, one said "this makes all your last few albums sound like jam sessions or practice runs". It is probably not an album that some people are expecting and that, in our opinion, is one of the best things we could hope to say about it. This album is melodic to the nth degre, as much as it is powerfully emotional. It hits you in the face at times and it calms you down and sings you to sleep at others." The Automatic world tour kicks off in Giessen, Germany on September 6th. Tracklisting: 1. On-Air 2. Space & Time 3. Resolution 4. Control 5. Goodbye 20th Century 6. Streamline 7. Gratitude 8. Radio Link: Facebook, Listen (snippets): Automatic Aug 17, 2011 GARY NUMAN: Gary Numan's 'Dead Son Rising' grew out of a set of demos the singer had left from previous projects, but as he explains: "The original ideas that sparked off these songs are now barely visible. It's grown into another animal, something more experimental. Produced and co-written by Ade Fenton ( Numan's collaborator on 2006's Jagged), the material ranges from the heavily anthemic The Fall (written about an old friendship gone bad) to the Arabic and ghostly We Are The Lost and one of the standout moments, the brooding Dead Sun Rising. The latter both contain elements from a sci-fi fantasy story Numan has been writing over the last few years. Meanwhile, troubled relationships are explored on For The Rest Of My Life and Not The Love We Dream Of, and there's also room for two instrumentals (Resurrection and Into Battle), showcasing some of the soundtrack-type material that Numan and Fenton have been working on recently. It all adds up to one of Numan's most atmospheric albums one for those who loved his B-side experiments in the past but also containing some very direct, streamlined electronic rock in the likes of Big Noise Transmission, The Fall and When The Sky Bleeds, He Will Come. Release date: September 12, 2011. Tracklisting: 1. Resurrection 2. Big Noise Transmission 3. Dead Sun Rising 4. When The Sky Bleeds He Will Come 5. For The Rest Of My Life 6. While John spent the better part of three decades helping sculpt the sound of classic albums that defined labels like 4AD and Mute and launched whole genres of underground music, the seeds for the songs found on 'Noise In My Head', DarkDriveClinic's debut album, were taking root. From the opening echoes of Crawl, their mastery is clearly evident and the stage is set. A delicate, sweeping collage of sounds melt seamlessly into the swirling hypnotic guitars of The Offering. Ethereal, emotive, heartbreaking and powerful, the stunning voice of Rebecca seethes and undulates through the music. Released on Metropolis Records on October 25, 2011. Tracklisting: 01. Crawl 02. What was indicated on 'Broken Grid' (2008) and the digital only 'Resigned E.P.' (2009) now finds a felicitous continuation in "Frontiers": driving beats and danceable floor fillers melt with great melodies you can't get out of your head once you hear them. Sven's voice is multifaceted like never before, but still it is the one element connecting all 11 tracks to a whole complete work. It ranges from 'typical' Solar Fakesound, through lo-fi Electro punk, Industrial, Synthpop, and 80s influences, pleasantly surprising track by track. Released on July 25, 2011 on Synthetic Symphony.
