Overcoming fear, anxiety and panic
A 10-Week Recovery Program for Overcoming Panic, Anxiety, and Phobias

by Carol Goldman, Shirley Babior

Support your treatment goals and meet managed-care requirements with this audio-based recovery program that helps people overcome panic disorder, agoraphobia, social and generalized anxiety, and phobias. State-of-the-art cognitive-behavioral strategies endorsed by leading clinical experts provide panic relief and help listeners learn the skills they need to manage anxiety disorders before the problem gets out of control. This six-tape program also is ideal for helping clients reduce chronic stress and tension. The first five instructional audiotapes feature two 15-20 minute sessions, teaching individuals or groups to manage panic attacks, practice new ways to relax, think their way to recovery, expose themselves to feared situations, make lifestyle changes, and increase confidence. Calm Down, the sixth audiotape in this program, helps listeners turn off the panic button, breathe away stress, and experience total body relaxation. Weekly homework assignments reinforce lessons presented in therapy and on tape and encourage clients to practice their new skills daily. Individuals who are not currently working with therapists can benefit from this program, too, by following a plan of self-directed study. This program is a comprehensive anxiety-management program for individuals or groups and includes six audiotapes (ten instructional sessions plus four relaxation scripts), worksheets with homework assignments to support each session, and Overcoming Panic, Anxiety, & Phobias, a practical self-help handbook of coping strategies.
