THEATRE OF TRAGEDY:
After nearly 17 years in existence
Theatre of Tragedy
has decided to call it a day and close down. The decision was made during the
production of the latest album 'Forever is the World'. Theatre of Tragedy will
come to an end on October 2nd 2010, exactly 17 years after they started making
music together. The band had this statement to make: "Over the years
all of us have strived to combine the Theatre with everyday life but in the end
it has proven more and more difficult. We have come to appreciate our family
lives and jobs, which makes it very hard to continue this life of rock'n'roll
on the road. We know that some of you will probably be very disappointed, but
we also hope you will continue to listen to our music, which all of you learned
to appreciate and love so much. We want to thank everyone of you for all your
support over the past 17 years!" The final
Theatre of
Tragedyshow will take place on October 2nd in Stavanger, where it all
began. In related news, ToT have just released
the 'Forever is the World' limited tour edition with the added EP 'Addenda',
including remixes and previously unreleased tracks. See tracklisting
below.

ROME: The
Luxembourgish band ROME have developed a
totally unique poetry of longing which rings out from the dark
melancholic mist of rootlessness and which gives expression to a comprehensive
feeling of modern forlornness. The protagonists of their music are the
unintentional rebels of Camus (The Rebel; original: LHomme
révolté), contemporaries from the turbulent epochs of the 20th
century: the banished and the hunted; the despised and the misunderstood
always enemies of dictatorship. This is what the songs of Jerome Reuter are
about, firmly in the tradition of his declared heroes Jacques Brel and
Léo Ferré, (on earlier albums also Tom Waits and Nick Cave). As
regards content, Rome are inspired by world literature and the observant
listener will be able to detect references to and quotations from A. Camus, M.
Proust, JP Sartre and J. Genet. This serves to create a new kind of
intertextuality between word and sound. Following on from their EP
LAssassin
ROME assiduously
develop their sound further on the minimalistic, simple singer-songwriter album
Nos Chants Perdus, slowly leaving the apocalyptic realms behind
them. Apart from the French song titles the lyrics are primarily performed in
English, while the music is constructed primarily with acoustic instruments:
piano, guitar, touches of strings, accordion. They have largely relinquished
electronic elements, which marks Nos Chants Perdus out as a further
stride in the work of the band. Released on Trisol and available May 15th,
2010.

THE GIRL & THE
ROBOT: Earlier this year, The Girl & The Robot set out in their quest to
find love in our heartless society on their double feature single
'Whole/Flowers'. Now they expand their mission. The debut album of Plastique
and her Swedish Tinman Deadbeat has become a quest for warmth, love and
passion. In twelve timelessly beautiful, crystal clear Electro pearls,
Plastique acts side by side with an intrinsically cold-hearted Robot, causing
him to produce anything but deadhearted or cold melodies with his sequencers.
The debut album, 'The Beauty Of Decay' marks the onset of a fantastic journey,
leaving behind daily routines and heading for a world in which even robots have
hearts. The CD comes as a multiply folded digipack containing all the lyrics as
well as exclusive pictures capturing the songs wallowing eroticism.
Released on Trisol and available April 6th, 2010.

RAJNA: With their
new opus 'Offering' (9th album) and for the first time with Equilibrium Music,
Rajna continue
their musical and cultural exploration of sounds crossing the Mediterranean and
taking us above the Aegean islands, the Cyclades, Crete and Greece towards
Turkey ... Using a considerable selection of acoustic instruments,
Rajna's sound
returns to its roots, leaving only very limited space for electronics and
modern technology. Fans of the eighties will not be forgotten in songs like
The Dance of Cléomene, Neverland and the surprising
Quiet Hour sung by Aret Madilian from the band
Deleyaman.

ATARAXIA: Three years after the last studio Album
Kremasta Nera, Ataraxia is back with a marvellous new album 'Llyr'.
'Llyr' (Lyra) is the name of the instrument of the Bards and the Greek lyrical
poets; a sacred musical instrument visually inspired by the grace and nobleness
of the swans. Ataraxia, in this voyage, played the following instruments:
classical-, folk- and 12 strings-guitars, chitarra battente, keyboards, flutes,
sitar, gamelan, daf, frame drums, santoor, tablas, zard and bells. Female
vocals are sometimes accompanied by male vocals. This new album is a new story
inspired by pagan myths, feminine celebrations of Mother Nature, celtic
traditions
Ataraxia and her charismatic singer Francesca Nicoli have
created their very own, uncomparable genre of music: a cosmogenic dark folk
praying for Beauty. Released on Prikosnovenie and available March 30th, 2010.

DEPECHE MODE:
After a wait of 16 years, many
Depeche Mode
fans dreams came true last night (Feb 17, 2010) when an on-stage reunion
took place at The Royal Albert Hall in London. Alan appeared as a special guest
during the DM show to perform the song Somebody with
Martin Gore.
A well-kept secret was finally revealed to an unsuspecting audience at the
moment of the first encore for the bands special one-off performance at
the historical venue. This unique show was in support of the Teenage Cancer
Trust with all proceeds from the show going to the charity. Alan Wilder had
this to say: Dave [Gahan]
contacted me a few weeks back and asked if Id be willing to join them
on-stage. He assured me that everyone in the band was into the idea. I was very
happy to accept, especially as it was all in a good cause and we were long
overdue some kind of reunion of this sort. It was great to see everyone again
and catch up a bit, and it was also the first time I have actually
seen Depeche Mode perform!
